Money in Football

Money in Football

Football is a game enjoyed around the world. On its comercial front, it is changing everyday and the rate of change is just increasing by every passing day as organisations find new ways of earning more money and big businessmen buying clubs, lavishly funding them causing football to change.

On the first point of 'organisations finding new ways of earning ' has a very mixed reaction in the football community. Let's take an example of the not so old Uefa Confrence league. After Uefa announced this, many fans were angry and criticized the idea, but in the other hand Confrence league has provided a platform for smaller teams to find a chance to experience European glory. West ham ( an English club ) and Roma ( an Italian club ) winning the league proves the point.
The same thing is also about to happen as the next world cup will have forty eight teams instead of thirty two, which also has caused the community to react in a same way. But for us Indians and many other small rising nations it's a great news as it gives us a greater chance of qualifying for the World cup.

On the second point of 'big businessmen ruining football' has a few good points but the negative ones out weigh them. The most prominent example would be middle easy companies buying clubs like Manchester City and Newcastle United. These two deals especially the Manchester City deal has changed football forever, before the deal, Man city was a decent team but nowhere near where it is right now. They won the treble this year ( Champions league, Premier league, F A Cup ) and are arguably the best football team for the past few years. This has caused fans to get furious and angry. Even though money does play a part for the success of Man City we do have to give credit to Pep Guardiola ( A Spanish manager) who was the master mind behind it all. This second point is a little bit more trickier as no one can really say if it's good or bad. Many argue by saying that this will bring more balance to leagues which are dominated by a few teams but in truth no one is totally right or wrong.

But more than all these topics the most threatening prospect seems to be people forgetting the essence of football and most players choosing passion over money. I pray that football doesn't in the future one day become just a game played for money.

At last in conclusion, no one can say where football is heading to, if money is helping football reach to more people or ruining it.
